Ukrainian institute London has been offering Ukrainian language classes for over 30 years. Hundreds of students have studied Ukrainian with us. In the recent survey, over 80% expressed their high satisfaction with the quality of materials used and methods of teaching.
The Ukrainian Institute provides Ukrainian language courses for learners at three levels:
• Complete Beginners: for students without any prior knowledge of the language
• Lower Intermediate: for those students who completed at least 18 months of language tuition
• Upper Intermediate: for those students who completed at least 3 years of language tuition
Groups of other levels could be formed given sufficient demand.
Dates
We run three semesters each year and enrollment is possible at the beginning of each semester.
The dates for Summer Term are: the week commencing 25 September 2018 to the week finishing 16 December 2018 (12 weeks).
The year is divided into the following terms: Autumn Term (September to mid December), Winter Term (mid January – end of March) and Summer Term (April-July).
Cost & discounts
The cost per term is £200. You will be requested to pay this via bank transfer after enrolment.
The minimum of three studetns have to enrol into into one group for it to go ahead.
Those paying for all three terms will benefit from 10% discount.

Location & classes
Conveniently located at 79 Holland Park, the school is minutes walk from the Holland park tube station (Central line) and bus route #94 (easy access to Shepherds Bush tube station).
The students are studying in the spacious classes with no more than 10 students in the group.
Our teachers
Our teachers are native speakers with relevant teaching qualifications with many years of experience of teaching Ukrainian as foreign language.
Volodymyr Oleyko was born in Pustomyty near the city of L’viv in Ukraine. He earned his MA in Journalism from the Ukrainian Academy of Publishing and his MSc in Political Economy from the London School of Economics. In Ukraine Mr. Oleyko worked as an editor and journalist in both print and broadcasting media. Since he moved to London Mr Oleyko has been actively involved in activities of the local Ukrainian community. He is a member of the Ukrainian Writers’ Union and an author of two published books of poetry.
Olga Volosova is a graduate of Karazin Kharkiv National University. She holds PhD in Ukrainian Literature and MA in Ukrainian. She also studied in Harvard Summer School. Olga has been teaching Ukrainian since 1999. Olga was previously teaching at the University of Birmingham. Now, apart from the Ukrainian Institute, she teaches UCL. Her publications include Collins Ukrainian Mini Gem and Gem Dictionaries (she is the editor of the Ukrainian content) and textbooks on Ukrainian Literature for Years 5 and 6 for St Mary’s Ukrainian School in London.
Mariia Terentieva was trained as a broadcast journalist at the Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv. She worked for various Ukrainian TV channels as a journalist, screenwriter and a TV presenter and was later appointed a communications specialist for United Nations Development Programme in Ukraine. Mariia also holds MPhil in Screen Media and Cultures from the University of Cambridge, where she is currently pursuing PhD and is teaching Ukrainian language.
Teaching materials & methodology
Our courses are based on practical Ukrainian that you can use everyday. Conversation and speaking are the focus with lots of grammar & writing practice. You will also benefit from the chance to attend events organised at the institute where you can meet and practice with native speakers.
We are using YABLUKO textbook series, written by a team of educators according to the latest communicative methodology to learn Ukrainian as a second language.
