The next session of the Ukrainian Reading Club will be dedicated to the book “Дух часу” (“Spirit of the time”). This collection of short prose by Natalia Kobrynska is known not only as a result of the acclaimed reception by the reading community and the leading writers at the end of the 19th century, but also through the author’s dedicated public activity, mainly by spreading the Women’s movement in Galicia.
Natalia Kobrynska is regarded as the initiator of the feminist movement in Ukraine which was continued later by Lesia Ukrajinka, Ol’ha Kobylanska and a whole array of talented female writers of the 20th and 21st centuries.
The focus on “Дух часу” will be a wonderful opportunity to discuss the development of the feminist prose from its origins to today.”
