On 7th – 8th March 2018, St Antony’s College, with the support of The Antonian Fund and Russian and East European Studies, School of Interdisciplinary International Area Studies, is hosting the conference “Ukraine: Hope for the future, or land of lost opportunity?”
This interdisciplinary event will bring together academics, analysts and post-graduate students from across the UK in order to explore where Ukraine stands in 2018. We will discuss Ukraine’s foreign relations, politics and protest, ongoing reforms, and Donbas conflict and ask what the future looks like for Ukraine. Does this country still stand at a crossroads between East and West? Did Ukraine’s Revolution of Dignity pave the way for a brighter future? Or has the window of opportunity for change closed?
On 7th March the conference will feature a series of panels with presentations from leading academics, analysts and practitioners from across the UK working on Ukraine. Confirmed speakers include Roy Allison, Mathieu Boulegue, Paul Chaisty, Janet Gunn, Ivan Kozachenko, Irina Kuznetsova, Irina Lapsyhna, Ola Onuch, Ben Robinson, James Sherr, Sarah Whitmore, Andrew Wilson, Kataryna Wolczuk and Katja Yafimava.
On 8th March we will welcome presentations by post-graduate students from Oxford and beyond in order to learn what the new generation of Ukraine scholars is contributing to our understanding of the country.
