The “live design” collection by Ukrainian architect Victoria Yakusha will debut at London Design Fair 2018. The story of FAINA collection began in 2014 with idea of Ukrainian architect and designer Victoria Yakusha to drive deeper into the cultural heritage and to strive for simplicity and a thrifty attitude of our ancestors to nature. The collection is based on her recent study of the domestic traditions, forms, materials, and craft techniques, that were carefully transformed into contemporary minimalist design objects.

Clay, felt, willow, flax, and solid wood are the main elements of the FAINA collection, helping us to express the concept of “live design” – design that combines the energy of eco materials and the simplicity of ancestor’s lifestyle.

Each material in FAINA collection emits living energy: you can feel warm vibrations of delicate clay, the oldest building material in the history of mankind; solid wood preserves the history of the centuries in its pattern; softness of wool embraces with tenderness and home comfort. The whole collection is designed to involve simultaneously all senses and encourages feeling the soul of objects.

For the London Design Fair 2018 FAINA collection we will bring the iconic objects that have become a hallmark of the collection: cabinet Pechyvo with ceramic sliding doors and high-back armchair Lono on rotating base, as well as bestsellers – set of vases Bandura and armchair Toptun, who already caught attention of VOGUE US, Design Milk, Elle Decoration and are exhibiting at design galleries in Milan, London and Los Angeles.

About Designer

Victoriya Yakusha believes that there is inspiration everywhere, you just have to look with your eyes wide open. Based on feelings of sincere love for national roots, she decided to make the Ukrainian national identity understandable and recognizable throughout the world.

“Through the FAINA collection, I wanted to reflect the whole life force of energy that has been encapsulated over the Ukrainian land for centuries – as I feel it, in a modern interpretation”. Victoriya Yakusha

At the same time, Victoriya notes that FAINA is just the beginning of the search for a place for Ukrainian design in the modern world. Globalism, individualism and minimalism are trends of the present and near future. However, in this pursuit more and more respect will have things in which time remains to live forever.
