Ukrainian Institute invites to a talk “From Revolution in the Streets, to Revolution in the Offices of Power” by Svitlana Zalishchuk, newly elected Ukrainian MP, which will take place on Tuesday, November 11th, 7.00PM, at the Ukrainian Institute, London.
Ms Zalishchuk will talk on how the results of October’s parliamentary elections may now impact Ukrainian politics. Will the new faces be able to implement new rules in the country? What are the priorities of Ukraine’s new parliament? Is there a political scenario be for the developments in eastern Ukraine?
Svitlana Zalishchuk is a newly elected member of the parliament of Ukraine, nominated by the Petro Poroshenko Bloc Party .
Prior to becoming a MP, Svitlana was a journalist, activist and initiator of a number of influential civil society campaigns in Ukraine. She served as Executive Director of Centre UA, a Kyiv-based non-governmental organization.
Svitlana is a founder of CHESNO (Fair) a movement that monitors the work of the parliament.
She is co-founder of the Reanimation Package of Reforms – a platform that unites more than 50 NGOs promoting democratic reforms in Ukraine.
Ms Zalishchuk is a co-initiator of the journalist movement Stop Censorship! that fights for freedom of speech.
Svitlana used to work as a TV journalist and has an experience working in the Government and Administration of the President in 2005-2006. She graduated from the Institute of Journalism at the Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv.
Svitlana was a renowned activist in the EuroMaidan movement in Ukraine, that started in 2013. In particular, her organization is coordinating the social network platforms devoted toEuromaidan.
