GALLERY TALKS: This masterpiece by Ukrainian silversmith Chyzhevski from an Orthodox monastic church weighing over 74 lbs with scenes from the life of Christ and the four Evangelists was consecrated on 11 March 1784. Tessa Murdoch, Curator, will be joined by Conservator, Maickel van Bellegem in introducing the history, function and symbolism of this central feature of the iconostasis – which separated the nave from the sanctuary and subsequent ownership.  Maickel will share his recent experience of conserving the gates.
