Central Saint Martins Degree Shows 2015
Paintings of Ukraine-born artist Inga Loyeva will be presented at Central Saint Martins Degree Shows 2015.
Inga Loyeva was born in Odesa, moved to the United States at the age of ten and have been living abroad since. She visits Ukraine every year to see her family. This week Inga will be graduating from the Central St Martin’s School of Art with a Masters in Fine Art and will be presenting several paintings inspired by the recent history of Ukraine.
In January last year she flew to Kyiv to interview and photograph the protesters on Maidan and ended up witnessing the beginning of violent clashes on Hrushevskogo Street. Consequentially, she portrayed her personal experience on the barricades in contrast to information coming out from the news media conglomerates.
The large painting (from a broader series) that will be presented in the degree show is based on documentation by Babylon’13 of a reenactment of Repin’s infamous Cossack painting by volunteer pro Ukrainian soldiers currently fighting in Donbas.
