In November in partnership with the British Ukrainian Society Dash Arts will screen Haytarma, a film that tells the story of Crimean Tatar test pilot and hero of the Soviet Union Amet-khan Sultan who witnesses the 1944 deportation of the Crimean Tatars. A discussion will follow about the film and the current plight of the Tatars with Dash co-Artistic director Josephine Burton.
About the film
Haytarma is a 2013 Crimean Tatar-language film. It portrays Crimean Tatar test pilot and Hero of the Soviet Union Amet-khan Sultan against the background of the 1944 deportation of the Crimean Tatars. Production of the film began in October 2012 in Crimea. The initial budget for the film was US$2.5 million. The funds were provided by Lenur İslâm, owner of Ukrainian television station ATR Channel. Much expenditure was devoted to scenic design and costume design.

About the Dash Cafe
Since May 2010, we have hosted monthly free Dash Cafes featuring live music, film, performance, readings and discussion at venues across London.
