What is the future for Ukraine that Ukrainians would appreciate and the world would accept? What should Ukraine change while at war? Which countries are the role models?
17 Ukrainian experts with experience in various areas got together early March 2012, when they all foresaw Yanukovych’s fall. But Ukraine after Yanukovych was as unclear, and opposition to the incumbent president already made this mistake once – when Maidan in 2004 was too focused on defeating Kuchma, and neglected the agenda for post-Kuchma.
After three years of work, on February 24 the Nestor Group has presented the concept of its Vision for Ukraine in Kyiv. On March 11 one of the co-authors will be in London, to present the document here.
Yevhen Hlibovytsky is a member and a co-founder of the Nestor Group – an independent expert group which designs a long term vision for Ukraine. He is also a founder of pro.mova – a think tank and a strategic consultancy, which researches values and its impact on institutions in the former USSR. Yevhen Hlibovytsky also does expert work for OSCE in Central Asia, the Caucasus and other post-Soviet countries.
In his previous career Yevhen Hlibovytsky was a journalist and a freedom of speech activist. In 2003 he was one of the founders of Channel 5, which became the voice of the Orange revolution, and in 2013 – one of the founders of hromadske.tv, which played an important role on Maidan in 2013/14. He teaches at the Ukrainian Catholic University and Kyiv-Mohyla Academy.
