This year Ukraine will mark the 29th anniversary of the catastrophic explosion at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant, Ukrainian Institute in London invites everyone to attend a talk on this topic by Igor Shevchenko.
Igor Shevchenko will cover the following issues:
(i) reforms in the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources, anti-corruption initiatives and achievements;
(ii) analysis of the situation in Eastern Ukraine and Crimea in view of the loss of access to the natural resources and ecological problems in the temporarily occupied territories;
(iii) Chornobyl tragedy: current state of affairs, agreement with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) on funding of the new confinement.
The presentation will be followed by Q&A session and wine reception.
Igor Shevchenko was born in 1971 in Kirovograd. In the same year the family moved to Kyiv.
In 1996 he graduated from Kyiv Institute of International Relations as an international lawyer, consultant and translator from English.
In 2007 he studied at Harvard University in State Government School named by John F. Kennedy which was a part of the World Economic Forum in Davos – training for the members of the Forum of Young Global Leaders “Global Leadership and Governance in the XXI century.”
Igor Shevchenko became the first Ukrainian member of Young Global Leaders Forum at the World Economic Forum in Davos.
The talk will be held in English and Ukrainian.
