First ever concert of the renowned Ukrainian Vocal Formation Pikkardiyska Tertsiya in London!
On the 28th of August 2016, Pikkardiyska Tertsiya will perform at the Ukrainian Catholic Cathedral in London (22 Binney St, London, W1K 5BQ). Doors open at 6pm for 7pm start.
Pikkardiyska Tertsiya (Ukrainian: Піккардійська терція, Вокальна формація Піккардійська терція, literally Picardy third) is a Ukrainian a cappella vocal group. It was created on September 24, 1992 in Lviv, and has won many musical awards in Ukraine.

Pikkardiyska Tertsiya began with a quartet performing ancient Ukrainian music from the 15th century, along with adaptations of traditional Ukrainian folk songs. In time, the group expanded to six members with a repertoire of nearly 300 works, including liturgical music, folk songs, world hit songs as well as a good many original compositions from group members. Within over 20 years, Pikkardiyska Tertsiya has recorded six CDs, collaborated in projects with a variety of musicians and participates in charitable events. Over the years, Pikkardiyska Tertsiya has performed throughout Ukraine and Poland and conducted concert tours of Germany, the United States, Canada, Italy, Russia and France.

The most famous song performed by the choir – Plyve Kacha (unofficial requiem for the fallen in Euromaidan and ATO).

About the project:

Together with Ukraine Charity, for second year in a row, we bring a group of children who lost their fathers in ATO to our campground in Tarasivka (Derbyshire) where they have two weeks of unforgettable adventure. For half a century, Tarasivka has been hosting Ukrainian cultural and sporting events, as well as annual Summer Camps for children of 4-17 years old. These Camps are unique: they combine the immense fun of living in tents with a variety of recreational and sporting activities, as well as the key educational element which adds to their patriotic upbringing. For over 50 years, children of the Diaspora have been learning about Ukrainian culture, history, contemporary political and social issues in Ukraine by coming to these camps.

Our Children of Heroes project has received overwhelming support, so last year we were able to welcome 15 children from 10 different regions of Ukraine. This year, we are inviting 18 children. None of these children have ever been to Great Britain, yet their fathers gave their lives for a European future of Ukraine. That is why we want these children to see how people live in Europe, and to experience the warmth and hospitality of the Ukrainian Diaspora here. We also want to help our children to forge ties with Ukraine through a friendship born in Tarasivka.

You can read more about CYM at their webpage
More information about our Camp and the last year’s group is in this BBC article by Daria Taradai
And if you’ve never been to Tarasivka, here is a short video that will give you an idea of the camp life there.

We are looking forward to seeing you at the concert!
