One of Ukraine’s most prominent journalist, civic activist and a “new generation” MP Mustafa Nayyem is in London to support a GoGlobal project and to to talk about recent developments in Ukraine and 2017 as a decisive year for the success of Ukrainian reform agenda, as well as to answer the questions of the public.

About GoGlobal

GoGlobal is the initiative that promotes foreign languages learning in Ukraine and to promote 2017 as a Year of English Language in Ukraine. The project launch took place last summer, with 120 volunteers from 40 countries taking part. The project now moves to the new stage to involve 100 000 children in school camps all over Ukraine. The initiative will break into four streams  – Steam, Citizenship, Career and Leadership, Sports and Health. The organisers aspire to cover around 800 Ukrainian schools and attract 1000 international volunteers to Ukraine. The event will include an appeal for donations.

Speakers’ biographies:

Mustafa Masi Nayyem

He worked as a reporter for the “Kommersant-Ukrainy” newspaper from 2005 to 2007 and then for Shuster LIVE, a political talk show on Ukrainian television, from 2007 to 2011.

Nayyem frequently contributes news and articles to Ukrayinska Pravda. From September 2011 to late April 2013, he worked for the Ukrainian television channel TVi. After resigning due to a conflict with the channel’s new management, he started a web project together with colleagues who also left the channel. Their project was named Hromadske.TV. Using Facebook, Nayem was one of the first activists to urge Ukrainians to gather on Independence Square in Kiev to protest Viktor Yanukovych’s decision to “pause” preparations for signing an association agreement with the European Union. His summons to rally on Facebook on November 21, 2013 were the start of the Euromaidan protests which led to the overthrow of the Yanukovych government.

Nayyem was included in the electoral list of Petro Poroshenko Bloc and elected to the Verkhovna Rada on the parliamentary elections of October 26, 2014. He is one of dozens of Euromaidan activists who are trying to pivot from street politics into politics, where they hope to spearhead reform and turn Ukraine into a prosperous European state. Nayyem is now a member of DemAlliance party and  a member of the Committee of the Verkhovna Rada on issues of European integration in the 8th convocation of parliament.

Director of GlobalOffice NGO. Member of the Council of the Reanimation Package of Reforms. Was launching the activity of Edinburgh Business School Eastern Europe in Ukraine in 2009.Master of Political Sciences (Kyiv National Taras Shevchenko University), in the process of getting British MBA in Edinburgh Business School. GlobalOffice NGO – civic organisation aims to promote informational, political, economic, cultural and social integration of Ukraine into the global context, and further internal integration. Reanimation Package of Reforms is the biggest civic platform in Ukraine that unites 70 CSOs and think-tanks and promotes reforms in Ukraine through the change of law.
