Bloody East Europeans is a musical satire about the lives of Eastern European immigrants in the UK. Combining comedy, tragedy, Soviet anthems, Ukrainian folk ballads and 70s disco hits, Molodyi teatr asks who exactly these people are, what it is they want, and how to pronounce their peculiar names. In response to the toxic atmosphere surrounding the issue of immigration in the UK today, ‘Bloody East Europeans’ deconstructs stereotypes and gives a voice to those on the receiving end of anti-migrant rhetoric.

Bloody East Europeans will be performed as part of the multidisciplinary arts platform Peripheral Visions. Bloody East Europeans was long-listed for Amnesty International’s Freedom of Expression Award and was named among the 49 shows to see at the Fringe in 2015 by Edinburgh49.

Molodyi teatr is an amateur theatre group based in London. Founded in 2010, the group has produced numerous shows and short performances based on both well-known and neglected works of Ukrainian literature, from the poetry of Taras Shevchenko and the stories of Nikolai Gogol to the work of contemporary poets Iurii Andrukhovych, Oleksandr Irvanets, Viktor Neborak, and Serhii Zhadan.
