Ukrainian pilot, MP and member of the Ukrainian delegation to PACE Nadiya Savchenko, 34, started a ‘DRY’ HUNGER STRIKE to protest against her illegal detention, torture and trial on false charges. Her strike started on 3rd March, after a sudden adjournment of her trial as she was going to deliver a closing statement. A “dry” hunger strike means she will refuse water as well as food and has a maximum of one week to live.
Nadiya Savchenko is currently on trial in Russia’s southern Rostov region. She was kidnapped in Ukraine by Russian forces, illegally transported into Russia, handed to Russian secret services and charged with crimes she did not commit. Nadiya has been illegally detained in Russian prison since June 2014 and faces 23 years in a prison colony if convicted. Nadiya denies charges against her and demands to be repatriated to Ukraine. If she is not released she demands that her body be returned to Ukraine for burial.
People and diplomats in civilised countries across the world are urging Russia’s ‘family’ bosses to release her. Your prayers and your help are needed urgently now.
Do what you can to #FreeSavchenko and join the London Protests.
