WHAT IS IT ABOUT?
Oleg Sentsov, the Ukrainian film director who was sentenced to 20 years in prison for his resistance to the Russian occupation of Crimea in 2014, has been on hunger strike since 14 May 2018. His single demand is the release of all the Ukrainian political prisoners captivated by the Russian Federation.
Meanwhile, Russia is preparing to welcome hundreds of thousands of foreign visitors for the FIFA World Cup 2018, one of the most widely watched sporting events in the world.
Sentsov is seeing the continuation of the GULAG prison system from the inside. The rest are watching football.
On Saturday 2 June, London will protest against the bloody World Cup and the silent consensus of the world that shies away from Russian wars and repressions while consuming football games and macho politics on screen.
The protesters will call the names of 70 Kremlin hostages and show the red card to Putin’s expansionist regime.

OUR DEMANDS:
1. To the Russian authorities: to release Oleg Sentsov and all political prisoners.
2. To G-7: to put the issue of release of Oleg Sentsov and all political prisoners to discussion during the 44th G-7 Summit, on June 8-9 in Canada. To initiate a separate negotiation process between Russia and Ukraine to release Ukrainian citizens convicted in Russia and the occupied Crimea for political reasons and to act as mediators in such negotiations.
3. To the authorities of the UK: if it participates in the events around the FIFA World Cup, as well as in other official events, raise the issue of the status of human rights and political prisoners in Russia and the occupied Crimea.
4. To the civil society: to demand the release of political prisoners during the World Cup in Russia.
5. To the Ukrainian authorities: to create a position of special representative on the rights of Ukrainian political prisoners held in Russian and the occupied Crimea.
[Oleg Sentsov is currently held in the Siberian prison of Labytnangi, which was established under the Soviet GULAG system for forced labour railway construction. It continually existed as a prison colony ever since].
