Open City Doc Festival presents a short film My Crystal by Oksana Kazmina as part of screening of Together by Denis Shabaev. Oksana Kazmina won the Grand Prix at MyStreetFilmsUkraine with her work “My Crystal” and is representing Ukraine at the Open City Doc Festival in London.
Oksana Kazmina, a young promosing independent director, started shooting documentary and short films in 2010. Graduated MAPA (Moving Academy for the Performing Arts), Netherlands. Participated in film festivals like “New York Filmfestival” (2012), “Beogradski festival dokumentarnog i kratkometražnog filma” (2012), “Open Night” (2011), “Odessa International Film Festival”
Open City Documentary Festival creates an open space in London to nurture and champion the art of creative documentary and non-fiction film makers. The festival takes place over six days (16th-21st June 2015) in venues across London.

“Why can’t you run away from yourself?” nine-year-old Anna asks her father, the filmmaker, as they set out on a road journey that will take them from Russia through Germany to Scandinavia. Rest stops, playgrounds, motel rooms, highways by day and by night – eating, sleeping, playing, cuddling – the two film each other incessantly. Interspersed with an occasional song from Radiohead, recurring fragments of philosophical conversations, hints at the mother’s illness. Where is the journey leading them? Father and daughter don’t quite seem to know themselves. And little Anna still has to make a difficult decision… Located somewhere between diary and experimental film, Shabaev’s debut film provides a warm and humorous look into the complicated and magical world of a child.
