A Canadian Hero: Lecture by Professor Lubomyr Luciuk

Launching his latest book, prof. Luciuk will present the remarkable story of Corporal Filip Konowal – an immigrant, lumberjack, soldier and janitor whose valour at the Battle of Hill 70 in August 1917 earned him Great Britain’s highest military distinction, the Victoria Cross – the only Ukrainian ever so honoured and will discuss why remembering Konowal on the 100th anniversary of the Great War remains so important.
Copies of ‘A Canadian Hero’ will be on sale after the lecture.
About the speaker:
Professor Lubomyr Luciuk teacher political geography at the Royal Military College of Canada and is the author or editor of 30 books and some 300 opinion editorials published in all of Canada’s major newspapers.
