Revolution, conflict and economic crisis have only served to further drive Ukraine’s young fashion designers. Building a modern, global fashion reputation is no easy task in a country where young talent has to fight to get ahead. Despite all the difficulties, for the first time 8 Ukrainian designers were selected for this exhibition at London Fashion Week. Yasia Khomenko, Yana Chervinska, Yulia Yefimtchuk, DZHUS, Masha Reva, Lara Quint, Maria Bernar, Frolov together have created sharp collections about contemporary Ukraine and have brought the best examples to exhibit in London.
Kyiv-based designer Yasia Khomenko created her brand RCR KHOMENKO in 2010, and since then she has worked on ongoing projects and collections. For 6 years the designer has worked on a story about a girl travelling through a fairy tale in a playful combination of vintage textures and patterns. Each new collection continues the previous one and forms a fashion-show circuit, where the plot is born in the process. The protagonist of RCR KHOMENKO collections is a young woman who is not afraid to be the center of attention and who knows what she wants from life. She can easily afford the pleasure of being herself. “By the way, this year the main character has met Janus, the double-faced God of transitions and doorways” – Yasia comments on the clothes presented in London.

Yana Chervinska was the only Ukrainian designer to take part in the official part of a fashion show on the On|Off platform at London Fashion Week. Such an opportunity was accorded to Ms. Chervinska as a result of her victory at the Fashion DNA project, organized by Ukrainian Fashion Week and British Council in Ukraine.
ON|OFF is a creative platform, one of the most authoritative, where the best young designers get an opportunity to present their collections at London Fashion Week. During its 12 years of existence, ON|OFF platform has showcased numerous international brands, among them J.W. Anderson, Gareth Pugh, Peter Pilotto and others.
The Yana Chervinska brand, winner of the “Discovery of the Year” award at Best Fashion Awards 2015, has presented its new FW16 collection dedicated to the theme of time and transience and impact on diverse objects. This time the designer has also used cotton and wool, and as she has combined diverse materials with hand plaiting in a traditional way.
Yana Chervinska’s FW 16 collection will be presented in Ukraine on 20 March during Ukrainian Fashion Week.
