The Concert is featuring Orfeas String Quartet with Orpheus Papafilippou (solo violin) and Alla Sirenko (composer – pianist).
Alla Sirenko is a talented Ukrainian composer and pianist, widely recognized in Europe and beyond. Some time ago Alla was signed up by the music giant EMI – Music House International, to produce music for film and television across the world. A CD containing 34 of the tracks she had written has been successfully released world – wide. Alla Sirenko past projects include: Fantasy Opera for children “The Golden Penguin” premiered in November 2001 at the Royal Opera House (Linbury studio) – London; Opera “Verona” based on Shakespeare’s “Romeo and Juliet”; Ballet “The Little Prince”, from the story by Antoine de Saint-Exupery; a Mass for string orchestra dedicated to Dmitry Shostakovich; the Pantheon Fantasy for piano and symphony orchestra dedicated to the Heroes of 1st and 2nd World Wars; Spanish suite for string orchestra percussion and saxophone, dedicated to F. G. Lorca.
Orfeas String Quartet was formed in 2004 by graduates of the Royal Academy of Music, Trinity College of Music and Manchester University. Their performances have included the Royal Festival Hall, St Martin-in-the-Fields, Whitehall, National Portrait Gallery, Hilton Park Lane and the Landmark Hotel, Marylebone.
Their repertoire is extensive and ranges from large scale classical works through to 1920’s jazz standards, pop covers and West End show tunes.
