One of Ukraine’s finest contemporary artists comes to Stories for December. Still only 36, Lesya Kara-Kotsya (Леся Кара-Коця) is already an inventor of a new art style – the neo-folk Karakoko series – an accomplished landscape artist steeped in East European tradition and now a prolific and globally recognised digital artist.

This retrospective exhibition, curated by Happenstance Art & Framing, is the first outside of Ukraine to chart Lesya’s journey from traditional to digital. Set against the context of a country fighting for independence and freedom, Bears & Babushkas symbolizes the current transformation of a nation from feudal-industrial to hi-tech creativity.
